Johan, Gustav, Clara, and the recorder

In 2017, Johan Blixt (SE) received his master’s degree in composition from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm after studies for professor Karin Rehnqvist. Johan finds inspiration in larger musical structures and in human relations. His music has been performed by ensembles such as Norrbotten Neo, The Swedish Wind Ensemble, and Wermland Opera. Johan aslo works extensively as a sound designer/engineer for theatres.

Gustav Lindsten (SE) began his musical education at the Gotland School of Music Composition in 2010 and in 2017 he received his master’s degree in composition from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm after studies for professor Karin Rehnqvist. Gustav is engaged in spectral music and timbre is one of the most important components in his writing. Gustav is also working as a musician in live-electronic music, which is apparent in his artistic expression as well.

Clara Guldberg Ravn (DK) received her master’s degree from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm after studies for professor Dan Laurin. She has also studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Lyon and is specialized in early music and contemporary music. Clara has received numerous scholarships in Denmark and Sweden and freelances today as a soloist and a chamber musician.

This collaboration started as a project about a new recorder model, the Eagle. The model was designed in 2012 by the Dutch recorder builder, Adriana Breukink, and has a wider bore, a metal labium and a key system that all together make the Eagle recorder louder and gives it a greater register thus enabling recorder players to play on equal terms with modern string players and wind players.
